How it works

A website in a week: how long it really takes to build one

A website in a week sounds quick because most website projects are slow for the wrong reasons. Here is where the time really goes, and how I skip it.

A website in a week: how long it really takes to build one

Ask a web company how long to build a website for a small business and the answer is usually "six to eight weeks". Ask the business owner afterwards and it was closer to three months. The build itself was never the slow bit. The waiting was.

Where the time actually goes

A typical website project looks like this. A meeting to discuss it. A proposal. A deposit. A questionnaire about your brand. A request for your logo, your photos, your wording. Then weeks of silence while you try to find an evening to write "about us" paragraphs you never wanted to write.

Then a first draft. Then a round of changes. Then another. Then the invoice.

Almost none of that is building. It is admin, and it is you being asked to do homework. For a busy café or salon owner, that homework is the reason the website never happens.

A website in a week, if you skip the homework

Here is the thing. For a local business, nearly everything the website needs already exists. Your photos are on Instagram. Your prices are on a board or a Facebook post. Your reviews are on Google. Your opening hours are on the door.

So I don't send a questionnaire. I ring you for five minutes and ask three questions: what you want front and centre, how people book or get in touch now, and anything you're proud of that I should show off. Then I go and build the site from what is already out there.

That turns weeks into days. You get a text with a link within a week, and you look at the finished thing on your phone. That is the whole trick behind a website in a week: no homework, just the build.

What "finished" means

Not a mock-up or a brochure. The actual website, with your real photos, your real prices and your real reviews, built for phones first and set up for Google and AI search. The same site you would get at the end, just built before you've paid anything.

If there is something you'd change, tell me and I'll change it before it goes live. Then it is yours.

Why a week and not a day

I could rush it faster, but a week leaves room to do it properly: to crop your photos so they load quickly, to write the wording in your voice rather than mine, and to set up the behind-the-scenes information that Google and AI tools read. A day gets you a template. A week gets you a website.

What you have to do

Honestly, very little. Answer the phone for five minutes. Look at a link. Tell me if you love it. If you don't, delete the message and we're done, no charge.

If you do, it is a one-off £595, and I register the web address in your name and link the site to your Google listing. The whole process is on the how it works page. Or skip ahead and get your free demo started.
